Office 365: Installing on Mobile Devices

If you have a Hennepin Technical College e-mail address, you have the ability to install Microsoft Office 365 on any personal device, including mobile devices (smart phones and tablets).

Resolution or Steps 

  1. Regardless of your mobile device, you will need to download each application individually from the Application Store or Google Play Store
  2. Once downloaded, open the application
  3. Enter your StarID e-mail address and click "Next"“Blue screen showing ‘Use Word on the Go’ with icons for a house, the Word logo, a building, and an airplane arranged in a dotted circle.   4. This will confirm that the e-mail is associated with Hennepin Technical College and ask for your password - Click "Sign In" once complete“Microsoft sign‑in page showing the email address ‘starID@hennepintech.edu’ at the top. Below are the heading ‘Enter password,’ a password entry field, and links for ‘Forgot my password’ and ‘Sign in with another account.’ A blue ‘Sign in’ button appears to the right. A message below says, ‘Trouble logging in? Contact your campus IT help desk.’ Links for Terms of use and Privacy & cookies appear at the bottom.”.
  5. Your device will take a few moments to process and confirm - The following screen will appear once successful
    “Screen showing a large checkmark above the text ‘You’re All Set.’ Below it reads, ‘You’re now ready to use all of the benefits included with your Office 365 subscription.’ At the bottom is a button labeled ‘Create and Edit Documents’ with a Word icon.”

  6. Your credentials are automatically applied to all applicable Microsoft Office applications that were already downloaded or that you download after completing this initial setup.  

  7. Please Note: Once you log into Microsoft on your mobile device, you will be prompted for the Multi-Factor Authentication. (Call, Text or Authenticator)
