How to set up my email account on Apple Mail

Resolution or Steps 

Instructions to set up email account on Apple Mail. For the best user experience it is recommended to use Outlook as the preferred email client for MacOS. If you prefer to use the MacOS native mail application (the default mail application built into MacOS laptops/desktops) follow the instruction steps below. 

Note: Illustrations and instructions may vary depending on the version of the application you are using.

  1. Open your Mail client.

2. Select the Mail tab and go to Accounts.

3. Click on the '+' symbol to add account.

4. Select Exchange.

5. Note: You will be adding your MinnState login in to the Email address field.

  • Enter your MinnState login:
    • Employees: StarID@minnstate.edu
    • Students: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
  • Select Sign In

6. Select Sign In

7. Enter your StarID password and select Sign In. You may get prompted to respond to a multi-factor authentication prompt if it is set up.

8: Select Done.

9: You should see the Exchange Mail Client in Accounts.

10. Close this window and click on the icon to see your emails.

Please Note: Once you log into your email on your mobile device, you will be prompted for the Multi-Factor Authentication. (Call, Text or Authenticator Application)
