5.  Click Show Options

“Remote Desktop Connection window showing a field labeled ‘Computer’ with text reading ‘Remote Desktop name.’ An arrow labeled 4 points to this field. An arrow labeled 5 points to a dropdown labeled ‘Show Options.’ Buttons labeled Connect and Help appear at the bottom.”

6.  Enter your Star ID in the Username box

7.  If you want to save your credentials (Username & Password), click box for Allow me to save credentials.

8.  Click Save As . . .

“Remote Desktop Connection window with the General tab selected. Under Logon settings, the Computer field shows ‘Remote Desktop name’ and the User name field shows ‘Star ID.’ Arrows labeled 6 and 7 point to these fields. A checkbox labeled ‘Allow me to save credentials’ appears below. Under Connection settings, buttons labeled Save, Save As, and Open appear, with an arrow labeled 8 pointing to the Save As button. Connect and Help buttons appear at the bottom.”

9.  Click on Desktop

  • If you cannot find Desktop, click on This computer and you should find Desktop.

10.  Click on the File Name box and type the name of your Remote Desktop.

11.  Click Save

“Save As window showing the Desktop folder selected in the left navigation pane. The File name field contains ‘Remote Desktop name,’ highlighted by an arrow labeled 10. An arrow labeled 9 points to the Desktop folder, and an arrow labeled 11 points to the Save button. Buttons for Save and Cancel appear at the bottom.”

You should now see a shortcut on your desktop that looks like:

“Remote Desktop Connection shortcut icon on the desktop, showing a computer monitor symbol with a green Remote Desktop overlay. The label below reads ‘Remote Desktop name.’”
