  • View instructions in this article below for other Microsoft software such as, Visio, Project, Windows 10, SQL Server, Visual Studio, and many more available through Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching. Note: Microsoft does not have an app for iOS or desktop for Visio or Project.

Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching Offers Visio, Project, Windows 10, SQL Server, Visual Studio and more.

Tips: It will be helpful to have a good high-speed Internet connection for download of software. It may take some time to complete download of software files. Some of the download files may be large, so ensure your computer has enough space. Note: Microsoft does not have an app for iOS or desktop for Visio or Project.

  • Step 1) Go to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools
  • Step 2) Click the Sign in button. You will be prompted to agree to the terms by selecting the corresponding checkbox. If you do not wish to receive additional information, tips, and offers uncheck the corresponding box. Log in using your MinnState login credentials:

  • Step 3) Under Education Get Started, click on Software and search for your preferred application.

“A Microsoft Azure Education page showing the heading ‘Education | Get started.’ The left navigation menu includes Overview, Get started, Learning resources, and under it, the item Software, which is outlined with a red box. Additional menu items below include Learning, Profile, and Student FAQ. The top bar displays the Microsoft Azure label.”

  • Step 4) From the search result list, click on the application you would like to download and click the Generate URL button located in the right pane, then copy and paste the URL into a new browser window to start the download.
  • Step 5) Once the download is complete, open the software application. You will be prompted for a Product Key. Click on the View Key button, then copy and paste the Product Key to activate your software license. Make sure to save the Product Key during the activation process.
  • Note) If you are only seeing 5 tools; navigate to https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/students. Click on “Start Free". Sign into the Microsoft sign-in with your StarID@go.minnstate.edu and your StarID password. Verify your identity and continue. Put in your School Name field. Put in your date of birth, then complete the captcha. After that, you should be able to click “Verify academic status.” On the next page, you need to fill in personal information about yourself. It is asking for your billing address. Once filled out, make sure to check the first box. The second box is personal preference. Microsoft will request that you set up multifactor authentication. Since this should already be done, click next and it will skip this step and open up azure’s education page. You should now be on the Azure Education Overview page. This page is what you will navigate to download software. On the left, click on “Learning resources,” then click on “Software.” There should be 74 Items available for you to download now.

Example:

“A software information page titled ‘Project Professional 2019 (Windows Only).’ Below the title is a multicolored Microsoft square logo. A paragraph describes Project Professional 2019, stating that it enables project planning, resource tracking, team collaboration, real‑time communication via Skype for Business, and synchronization with Project Online and Project Server 2019. Additional details listed include: • Operating System: Windows • Product language: English • System: 64 bit Two buttons appear at the bottom: ‘View Key’ and ‘Generate URL.’ The page header shows the word ‘Software’ with an Education label and navigation icons at the top.”
